Hydraulic pump


A hydraulic pump is a mechanical source of power that converts mechanical power into hydraulic energy (hydrostatic energy i.e. flow, pressure). Hydraulic pumps are used in hydraulic drive systems and can be hydrostatic or hydrodynamic. They generate flow with enough power to overcome pressure induced by a load at the pump outlet. When a hydraulic pump operates, it creates a vacuum at the pump inlet, which forces liquid from the reservoir into the inlet line to the pump and by mechanical action delivers this liquid to the pump outlet and forces it into the hydraulic system. Hydrostatic pumps are positive displacement pumps while hydrodynamic pumps can be fixed displacement pumps, in which the displacement (flow through the pump per rotation of the pump) cannot be adjusted, or variable displacement pumps, which have a more complicated construction that allows the displacement to be adjusted.

The Working principle of hydraulic pump

The hydraulic pump relies on changes in sealing volume to absorb and press oil. The operation process includes oil suction process and oil pressure process.

★What is Vane pump?

A rotary vane pump is a positive-displacement pump that consists of vanes mounted to a rotor that rotates inside a cavity. In some cases these vanes can have variable length and/or be tensioned to maintain contact with the walls as the pump rotates. A critical element in vane pump design is how the vanes are pushed into contact with the pump housing, and how the vane tips are machined at this very point. Several type of “lip” designs are used, and the main objective is to provide a tight seal between the inside of the housing and the vane, and at the same time to minimize wear and metal-to-metal contact. Forcing the vane out of the rotating centre and towards the pump housing is accomplished using spring-loaded vanes, or more traditionally, vanes loaded hydrodynamically (via the pressurized system fluid).

★What is gear pump?

A gear pump is a type of positive displacement (PD) pump. It moves a fluid by repeatedly enclosing a fixed volume using interlocking cogs or gears, transferring it mechanically using a cyclic pumping action. It delivers a smooth pulse-free flow proportional to the rotational speed of its gears.

★What is piston pump?

A piston pump is a type of positive displacement pump where the high-pressure seal reciprocates with the piston. Piston pumps can be used to move liquids or compress gases. They can operate over a wide range of pressures. High pressure operation can be achieved without adversely affecting flow rate.

Vane pump all are made of cast iron. Uniform flow, smooth operation, low noise, higher efficiency than gear pumps, and smaller structure than gear pumps.It is complex and has low output pressure. It is generally used in industrial fields such as machine tools, plastic machinery, forging machinery, and engineering machinery.

Hydraulic gear pump

Gear pump are generally made of aluminum alloy, with small displacement, small volume, light weight, simple structure, loose requirements for oil cleanliness, and cheaper price; however, the pump shaft is subject to unbalanced forces, serious wear, and leakage. Large, noisy, high output pressure, generally used in outdoor equipment. The rotation speed is generally within 2500, and the pressure is 20Mpa. The general models are HGP, GPY, SRP, and SGP

Hydraulic piston pump

Piston pumps are  made of cast iron, with high volumetric efficiency, small leakage, and can work under high pressure; but the structure is complex and the materials and processing are precise. High oil purity, high price, and high oil cleanliness requirements are generally used in high-pressure equipment, such as construction machinery and vehicles.    Generally, a plunger pump is used when the gear pump and vane pump cannot meet the requirements. The rotation speed is below 3000 and the pressure can reach above 30Mpa.
