Hydraulic cylinder

What is the hydraulic cylinder?

Hydraulic cylinders are actuation devices that use pressurized hydraulic fluid to produce linear motion and force. They are used in a variety of power transfer applications, and can be single or double action.

A hydraulic cylinder (also called a linear hydraulic motor) is a mechanical actuator that is used to give a unidirectional force through a unidirectional stroke. It has many applications, notably in construction equipment (engineering vehicles), manufacturing machinery, elevators, and civil engineering. A hydraulic cylinder is a hydraulic actuator that provides linear motion when hydraulic energy is converted into mechanical movement. It can be likened to a muscle in that, when the hydraulic system of a machine is activated, the cylinder is responsible for providing the motion.

Types of hydraulic cylinders and the characteristics

1.Single-actingand Double-acting

Hydraulic cylinders (oil cylinders) come in many forms, and are classified according to their mode of action into two categories: single-actingand double-acting.

A single-acting hydraulic cylinder uses hydraulic oil to push the piston (plunger) to move in one direction, while the reverse movement relies on gravity or spring force. Double-acting hydraulic cylinder means that the movement in both forward and reverse directions is realized by pressure oil.D

2. Medium-low pressure, Medium-high pressure and High-pressure hydraulic cylinders

Hydraulic cylinders can be divided into medium-low pressure, medium-high pressure and high-pressure hydraulic cylinders according to different operating pressures. For machine tool machinery, medium and low pressure hydraulic cylinders are generally used, and their rated pressure is 2.5~6.3MPa; for construction vehicles and aircraft hydraulic cylinders that require small size, light weight, and large output, most medium and high pressure hydraulic cylinders are used, and their rated pressure is 10 ~16MPa; For machinery such as hydraulic presses, most use high-pressure hydraulic cylinders with rated pressures of 25~31MPa.

3.Piston type, Plunger type, Swing type and Telescopic type

Hydraulic cylinders are divided into piston type, plunger type, swing type and telescopic type according to different structural types. Among them, piston type hydraulic cylinders are(piston cylinder) has the most applications.

4. Mobile hydraulic cylinders and Swing hydraulic cylinders

According to movement and swing, they are divided into mobile hydraulic cylinders and swing hydraulic cylinders. Mobile hydraulic cylinders mainly refer to piston, plunger and multi-stage hydraulic cylinders.

Production Process of hydraulic cylinder

DESIGN

Our specialized staff is at your disposal for technical consultancy relating your project and the best type of materials to use based on your application.  We mostly work “on drawing”,preparing personalized projects according to customer needs.Once the project is defined, we produce our technical drawingby CAD 2D-3D systems and supply it to our customer for approval.

RAW MATERIALS

An accurate raw materials and seals selection brings to save costs and allow to produce high quality and powerful cylinders. For that reason, in the materials choice we consider the application field of our cylinder and the environment where it will work. Specifically for chromed bars and tubes, we work only with producers or reliable suppliers.

CYLINDERS PRODUCTION

We produce about 120.000 cylinders per year and the whole process develops in our factory: cutting of raw materials, turning and milling machining, components and accessories welding, cylinders mounting and final testing. All the above steps are made with latest generation CNCmachines, welding robotized stations and specially made equipment.

CONTROL

Each step of production is controlled and its progress is monitored with“production tag”filled up by the operator at the end of each process. All cylinders are marked with product code and number of production order, in order to have a full traceability. All cylinders are controlled, during the assembling for possible defects of the components used and tested with the“method of variation of pneumaticpressure” for possible leakage.

There are professional hydraulic engineers to help you solve the problem

Choosing the Right Hydraulic Motor

The first step in selecting the correct type of hydraulic motor is knowing the application for the motor. Knowing this means that you know the performance needs, including temperature, speed, pressure, and operating torque.

You should also consider if you need a motor that is easy to install, or if your industry has set any specification requirements. It is good to examine the potential of contamination as well.

If you work with a professional hydraulic supplier and manufacturer, this will help you improve your decision-making.
